Luggage Capacity of Agusta 109 Grand.
The Agusta 109 Grand Helicopter is our most popular helicopter to charter. They have a large luggage bay in the rear just before the helicopter’s tail boom. This can carry up to 120 Kilos in weight. We generally run out of space before we go overweight.
This means 4 Medium suitcases or 2 Large suitcases + 3 or 4 soft-sided bags. We can also put luggage in the cabin when required with a passenger load of no more than 4. Our pilots will generally make things work within the realms of safety.

Packing for a helicopter flight
Helicopter luggage space is governed by volume as much as weight. The Agusta 109 Grand’s rear bay takes up to 120 kg, but in practice four medium suitcases or two large cases plus soft bags fill it first. Soft-sided bags pack far better than hard cases, which is why our booking confirmations ask for them where possible. Golf clubs, skis and guns in slips are carried regularly; tell us in advance so the pilot can plan the load.
Weights and balance
Every helicopter flight is planned against the aircraft’s maximum weight, which is why we ask for approximate passenger weights at booking. A party of six adults with full luggage may be at the limit on a hot day; the pilot will say so, and the options are a second aircraft, a second trip for the bags, or a larger helicopter. Four passengers with luggage is comfortable in the Grand; six with soft bags is normal.
Larger helicopters
For parties with a lot of luggage the AW169 and the Sikorsky S76 offer more cabin and bay space. For an airport transfer to meet a private jet, remember the jet’s hold is the limit on the whole trip, and we match the two aircraft when we quote.
