Video of an Agusta 109 Grand taking off from a private site in London.
A short video of the twin-engine Agusta 109 Grand lifting from a London City private site. The landing site is just at the end of the London City Airport runway. This Helicopter took off with a private jet charter London on the London City Airport runway, waiting to taxi.
Landing helicopters in East London
The site in this video sits close to the eastern end of the London City Airport runway, which is why the airliner can be seen holding for departure as the helicopter lifts. Flights here are flown under the control of London City’s air traffic unit, and they show how a helicopter can connect a riverside site with an airport, a private jet or a country house without touching the road network.
The Agusta 109 Grand
The helicopter is a twin-engine Agusta 109 Grand, the most requested helicopter on our fleet. It carries up to six passengers at around 150 mph, has a proper luggage bay behind the cabin and, because it has two engines, is cleared to operate into the London heliports and to fly at night.
Where helicopters can land in London
Two heliports take charter traffic: Battersea in the west and the Docklands heliport in the east. Beyond those, private sites such as the one in the video can be used with the landowner’s permission and a pilot’s assessment of the site. Our London helicopter charter page explains the options, and the private landing sites guide covers what a site needs.
