Reading an empty-leg list
The table above is a snapshot of one week’s repositioning flights on a Citation CJ2. Each line is a one-way sector the aircraft had to fly anyway, offered at a guide price far below a full charter. The pattern is typical of early summer: aircraft moving between the UK regions, down to Spain and across to Belgium and Switzerland as the holiday season starts.
How to use an empty leg
- Choose a sector that matches your route; the departure and arrival airports are fixed.
- Ask about the timing window; most operators allow a few hours either side of the listed time.
- Confirm quickly. An empty leg is only available until the original booking changes or someone else takes it.
- Plan the return separately; a second empty leg rarely lines up, so a full charter or an airline ticket covers the way back.
The Citation CJ2
